NY -Ouchi Gallery-

2008-2017

“Art for Everyone”

Ouchi Gallery was opened by ARISA, who wished to create a space for myriads of talented artists who were waiting to get discovered. ARISA designed a creative space that reminds artists of what they truly wanted to become. Under the concept “making art a part of our lives,” the gallery became a cozy space in Brooklyn that felt like home for those who visited. Unlike conventional white cubes that feels intimidating and unapproachable for the artists and art lovers, it made both artists and visitors feel like the artworks are hung on the walls with special care, thus becoming a part of somebody's sweet home (as the word Ouchi means in Japanese).

About Ouchi Gallery:

No, not "ouch!". Pronounced OOH-WOO-CH-I, Ouchi is Japanese word for "home" or "house." The name was given to our gallery because it displays works by contemporary Japanese artists in a home-like setting.

Art should be more than a business commodity. It should transform all of our daily lives, awakening new thoughts and passions each day. The best art teaches that there are no limits to individual pursuits; that our own possibilities are infinite.
So when you visit Ouchi Gallery, we hope that you feel both at home and inspired. Perhaps you will feel something exhilarating—a positive "ouch!"

Location: 170 tillary street, Brooklyn, NY

It is located in the complex in Brooklyn, New York that are often used for film shootings, advertisements, and magazines. The former shoe factory now has become working space for artists, including filmmakers, photographers, and designers. Over 200 guests gather for the garden party that takes place on the rooftop of the beloved building in Brooklyn.

Our Mission

To Return the Earth and People to What They Should Be
by Making Art a Part of Our Lives

Today, the world we call our home is experiencing drastic changes. The changes took place as people started to seek the answer to leading a life as their true selves, having questioned the meaning of life.

What does happiness look like to you?

Do you have an answer to this question?

Art teaches us what happiness is, and the answer it provides is a life with an enriched mind. Art allows people to return to the way they were supposed to be. No need to pretend to be someone you are not, undervalue what you worth, or try too hard to confirm and fit in.

The sad news is, the world we live today is overflown with people who do not live a life they can call their own. Amid such a tragedy, those who had their lives changed by art are the ones who won the unimaginable happiness for themselves.

“This is who I truly am!”

I want you to know how wonderful it is to be able to scream them with joy. The mission of JCAT is to paint our future in our ways by letting the world realize the strong presence of art and what it can do.

Whether you are an artist or not, you can always go back to who you originally were with the help of art.
