YoshikoLee

YoshikoLee was born in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture in 1973, and grew up as a tailor's daughter.
She studied Photography and Video Production at Tama Art University.
After her studies, she has been an actor as well as a filmmaker for independent films. Her work shows how beautiful life would be if you cherish every little moment and love them with all your heart.
Madonna has been her style icon for a long time. The 1991 documentary film, "Truth or Dare" shocked YoshikoLee because of Madonna's toughness and frankness, but it has also been the greatest influence on her expression and work.
She presents her"photograms"(shadow-like photographic images made on paper without a camera) and paintings with poster colors and colored pencils. She admires filmmakers such as Ken Loach (Britain) and Takeshi Kitano (Japan).

YoshikoLeeは1973年、静岡県富士市に生まれ、紳士服の仕立て屋で育った。
多摩美術大学デザイン学科に進学し写真や映像を専攻。卒業後は俳優活動やインディーズ映画の脚本&演出もしている。
彼女が作品で伝えたい事は、日常の中に輝くささやかな美を発見する喜びである。

彼女の憧れの原点はマドンナ。ドキュメンタリー映画『イン・ベッド・ウィズ・マドンナ』で自分を鍛え、どう表現すればメッセージが伝わるか戦う姿に衝撃を受けた。
作風は絵画や印画紙に物を感光する『フォトグラム』。尊敬する映画監督はイギリスのケン・ローチや、北野武。
