Youri

Youri paints female figures using the shading of the sumi ink.
What mesmerized her in her childhood was drawing and reading. She loved entertaining herself by making up stories in her mind using fictitious characters from movies and novels, especially sensual female figures, as motifs.

She attended a design department in high school, with her life revolving around painting. However, she fell into a slump and drifted away from painting after graduation. Her hiatus from painting ended in her late-30s when she studied color therapy. It was after she entered her 40s that her life as an artist began.

A few years after resuming painting, she suddenly felt a strong urge to paint a female figure. Since then, she has been committed to using women as motifs and painting predominantly with calligraphy pens and brushes. As she continued painting, she found sensuality in the shadings and curved lines that Sumi ink creates and the blank spaces, through which she established her style of painting the sensuality.

She had her first solo exhibition Kaleidoscope at the gallery in Nagoya in 2014. In 2018, she participated in a group exhibition by Japanese artists at the Gallery House of Sampoerna in Indonesia. She also hosts her original art session Symbolized Art as a painter-therapist.

Youriは墨の濃淡で「女性」を描き、「官能」を表現している。

幼少期に夢中になっていたことは、絵を描くことと本を読むこと。そして、映画や小説に出てくる女性たち、とりわけ官能的な女性をモチーフにして、自分の脳内で物語を作り独りで遊ぶことが好きだった。

描くことが生活の中心だった彼女は高校のデザイン科へと進むが、在学中にスランプに陥り、卒業後は絵を描くことから離れてしまう。その後、30代後半にカラーセラピーを学んだ事がきっかけとなり、再び絵を描くようになる。アーティスト活動を始めたのは、40歳を過ぎてからだった。

描けるように戻って数年経った頃、突然「女性を描きたい！」という強い衝動が湧き起こり、それ以降はモチーフを女性だけとし画材も筆ペンと墨が中心となっていった。描いていく内に、墨の濃淡や曲線の中に、また余白の中に官能があると感じ、現在の「官能を描き出す」作風へと至る。

2014年に名古屋市内のギャラリーで、初個展「万華鏡」を開催。2018年には、インドネシアのギャラリーハウスオブサンプルナで開催された日本人作家のグループ展に参加。オリジナルのアートセッション「シンボライズアート」で、絵描きセラピストとしても活動中。
