Chisen
Painter
Chisen's journey into abstract art began on a day in 2023 when she suddenly saw a colorful swirl on her third eye chakra. Inspired to capture this vision, she started painting with acrylics. Her foray into art began over a decade ago, triggered by a serious illness that led her to learning sumi-e, a traditional Japanese ink painting. During her cancer journey, she confronted her own mortality and, through observing actual flowers, birds and nature for her artwork, gradually realized that all living things, human beings, animals and plants, possess an inherent beauty simply as they are. Drawing inspiration from the rich natural world that encapsulates those lives, she now creates abstract acrylic paintings with nature as her motif.
Inspired by the technique of undercoating with several layers in traditional Japanese painting, Chisen experimented with this method using acrylic paints. By layering thinned washes of paint, she adds depth to her pieces, creating a sense of immersion. This technique not only enriches the visual experience but also conveys a celebration of life and a sense of happiness to the viewer, which is the essence of her artistic pursuit.
One year after starting her career, Chisen has exhibited her artworks in eight countries around the world, with Tokyo-based. Including International Contemporary Art Fair Paris 2024 and World Art Dubai 2024. And featured in a French art magazine as one of the emerging artists.
