HOOBA

For HOOBA, art is accepting the "pain" from being stung by a honey bee as "nature's energy" and responding with a trembling heart. He was born at the foot of 3,000-meter mountains when the snow began to melt. He spent his childhood surrounded by wildflowers and wildlife. Around the age of 20, during his travels to various forests, he tasted honey from native bees and was deeply moved. The wild energy of the forests and fields filled him.
After a long honey journey, he got a job at a honey shop in Hokkaido. He saw wool paintings during his travels and decided to create his own.
HOOBA hopes those who see his abstract paintings of landscapes and creatures will realize their own richness. Just as bees with stingers make sweet honey, creating soft paintings by needling wool is his joy in art. He strongly wishes his paintings contribute even a little to the well-being of viewers, just as honey contributes to the health of those who taste it.

HOOBAにとってアートは、ミツバチに刺されたことによる「痛み」を「自然界のエネルギー」として受容し、心ふるえるままに応答しつづける営みだ。

彼は3,000m級の山々の麓で、雪どけが始まるころ生まれた。
野草や野生動物に囲まれて幼少期を過ごす。
20才前後で各地の森を訪ねる旅のなか、在来種の蜂蜜を食べ、感涙した。
森や野山の野性的なエネルギーが、彼を満たした。

蜂蜜を食べ歩く旅の末に、北海道の蜂蜜屋に就職。
羊毛を使って作られた絵を旅先で見かけ、作ろうと思い立つ。

彼は風景や生き物を題材にした、自分の抽象画を観た人が、その人自身の豊かさに気づくことを望んでいる。
針を持つミツバチは、甘い蜜を作る。
ニードル針で羊毛を刺しながら、やわらかくて本質的な絵をつくることが、彼にとってアートの喜びである。 蜂蜜が、味わう人の心身の健康に寄与するように、自分の絵が鑑賞者のウェルビーイングに少しでも貢献することを、彼は強く願っている。
