Yuko Shinozaki

Yuko Shinozaki creates art in dialogue with the Earth, having grown up loving nature. In 1995, her house was destroyed by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. She survived the disaster fortunately and soon after, met Yasuo Sumi of “Gutai,” who suggested that she express what resides in her. It inspired her to begin with her abstract expression, receiving energy from nature and the universe.

She is fascinated by the accumulation of delicate objects, including an army of creatures like ants and bees, cells forming her body, and even the water circulation and galaxies. Since 1996, she has been transforming the images she received into three-dimensional, semi-sculptural, and collage works.

In the early years, she exhibited her works in Osaka and Hyogo.Since 2018, she has expanded her activities to Tokyo, Fukuoka, Niigata, and Goto Islands in Nagasaki. She joined a group exhibition in New York in 2019, and in the following year, amidst the pandemic, she had a virtual solo exhibit in Milan. She also participated in group exhibitions in Venice and Okayama from 2021 to 2022.

She intends to carry the energy of nature and the universe more densely by incorporating her insights on quantum mechanics. Her hope is to increase the population engaged in constant consultation with the Earth.

篠﨑裕子は子どもの頃から自然が好きだった。1995年に阪神・淡路大震災で自宅が全壊、幸い生き残った直後に『具体』の鷲見康夫氏に出会い、自分の中にあるものを表現するよう示唆を受けた。自然や宇宙からエネルギーを受け、抽象的な表現をするようになった。
彼女は細かいものの集積に心を奪われる。木の葉に覆われた樹木が集まり森を作る、蟻や蜂のような生き物の集まり、自分の身体を形作る細胞、さらに水の循環や銀河の集まりにまで。受け取ったイメージを、1996年から、立体や半立体、コラージュによる平面作品にしている。
初期は大阪、兵庫での展示だった。2008年以降は東京や福岡、新潟、長崎県五島などへも活動範囲を広げ、2019年にはニューヨークのギャラリーでのグループ展に参加、2020年にはコロナ禍の中、ミラノで無観客個展を開催、2021年～2022年にはベネチアや岡山県でのグループ展にも参加。今後は量子力学的な世界観も踏まえ、自然や宇宙のエネルギーをもっと濃厚に伝えるつもりだ。そして、『地球と相談しながら生きる人』を増やしたいという望みを抱いている。
